General Information on Subsidies and Tax Rebates for Solar Panel Installations in the Balearic Islands
In the Balearic Islands, the ICIO (a local tax on construction, installations and works) must be paid when applying for the permit for a solar installation.
Some municipalities in the Balearic Islands offer a rebate on this tax (an ICIO rebate of up to 95%), while others do not yet offer one.
A separate building permit fee must also be paid, which varies by municipality. This fee is not eligible for a rebate in any municipality in the Balearic Islands.
In addition, the Balearic Islands offer a rebate on the IBI (property tax) for renewable energy installations. The percentage and availability of this rebate vary by municipality.
Subsidies Available in the Balearic Islands
There are two main types of subsidies for solar panel installations in the Balearic Islands:
Piteib PIME 2024
Grant for installing solar power in the SME sector, up to 500 kWp of PV and 100 kWh of storage.
Available from 15/01/2024 to 31/07/2024.

To cover up to 5 kWp grid-connected plus 30 kWh of storage in off-grid homes.

In addition, the Balearic Islands also offer personal income tax (IRPF) deductions for solar panel installations. You can deduct 50% of the amount invested in improvements to the quality and sustainability of homes located in the Balearic Islands, provided the property is or will become the taxpayer's primary residence, or that of a tenant under a lease agreement signed with the taxpayer subject to urban lease legislation.
To apply the deduction, the taxpayer must be the owner or lessor of the home in the Balearic Islands, and the home must meet the requirements set out in state tax regulations to qualify as a primary residence, whether of the taxpayer or of a tenant with whom the taxpayer has signed a lease agreement. The deduction base is the amount actually paid by the taxpayer for the investments described above, up to a maximum of €10,000 per year.
